It’s officially fall, and time to start bundling up! A bandwagon that everyone needs to hop on to this fall/winter is the plaid and stripes one. It’s such a fun print for color mixing.
Forget everything and ignore the little voice in your head telling you these don’t "go together". These two patterns, which were once mostly reserved for schoolgirls and beetlejuice, have now become the go-to trend this season. They don’t only stand out on their own, but combined create a perfectly mixed-print combo.
If the whole ‘mixing prints’ trend is new to you or makes your brain hurt from the ‘clashing’, here’s a few tips to make it easier on you!
Check out our favorite plaid and stripes looks that represent this trend, and here’s a few tips to help you find the mixed print look!
-Pick a big print and then a small print – Too many prints in the same size can make your outfit look busy.
-Mix two similar prints – prints that are similar in scale but come in slightly different colors can be layered beautifully.
-Consider stripes as a neutral – Stripes are the easiest to mix with other prints so consider it as a neutral like a denim or black.
-Mix polka dots with plaid or stripes – make sure to choose large dots with small lines or vice versa to add interest to your outfit
